Princess Bride

I'm apparently not cultured like many of my friends because I thought the Princess Bride was the stupidest movie I ever saw. I clearly am in the minority, because everyone else in the world seems to think it is the greatest movie ever!? So in an effort to not be a total social outcast, I'm joining some friends who love this movie so much, they are going to a full screening at NJPAC hosted by the heroic Westly (actor Cary Elwes). I will say that Robin Wright (princess Buttercup) rocks Clare Underwood!

BOOKS

These are some of the most recent books I've read:

-The Kitchen House- (Kathleen Grissom) Great book! About an indentured white girl living with slaves in the late 1700s and early 1800s.

-Gone Girl- (Gillian Flynn)- Couldn't put it down. Alternating chapters narrated by wife, then husband. Different sides of the same story.

-A Dog's Journey- The sequel to A Dog's Purpose (W. Bruce Cameron). I loved the first and the second book. So sweet! Easy reading and heart warming!

-Wild: From Lost to Found (Cheryl Strayed)- A memoir about walking the Pacific Crest Trail (western version of the Appalachian Trail). Cheryl Strayed took this journey in her 20's to try and "find" her true self. It was good, a quick read.

- Fifty Shades of Grey and Grey and Fifty Shades Darker (E.L. James)- Apparently housewives across America are reading these because it reveals the fantasies women are really having. I admit, they are addictive, but if women are getting off on these books, their sex life is seriously lacking.

- Cutting for Stone (Abraham Verghese)- Very good. Takes you to another culture in another time. Well written.

- Unbroken (Laura Hillenbrand)- Written by the author of "SeaBiscuit". Excellent. Would never have chosen a book about WWII, but glad I did. Not a happy book, but very, very, good.

- A Dog's Purpose (W. Bruce Cameron)- Love, love, love. Written from the viewpoint of the dog. Adorable, tender, surprising!

-The Land of Painted Caves (Jean M. Auel)- Didn't finish. I was a big fan of the Earth's Children series, but the books are too long, and too much of a good thing. Although I'm a biology teacher, the descriptions of plants, landscape, etc went on and on.
